New Age music is one of the most popular music genres to exist in the music industry. Artists worldwide give their musical talents to produce soothing, inspirational music that ranks itself as the fourth popular genre. The ten most popular music genres are as listed:

New Age Music Styles

New Age music can take on many forms, using all elements of music -- classic and contemporary -- and creating soothing and/or inspirational sounds. Here is a list of seven New Age styles, in alphabetical order:


Acoustia

Also known as Acoustic New Age or contemporary instrumental, Acoustia consists of acoustic (non-electric) instruments and is always played as instrumental. Acoustia began as easy listening but was placed in the New Age category for their soothing sounds, and now some Acoustia artists are demanding that they be considered "contemporary instrumental." Aquarian Gospel

Sometimes placed in the alternative category, Aquarian Gospel is noted for harmonic chants and high-energy melodies. Although not considered gospel in the Christian sense, with its upbeat rhythm, Aquarian Gospel derives its name from the faith it resides in (New Age) and the elements of gospel. Eerie and unearthly sounds are sometimes used to invoke a sense of higher being. More Here


Aquarian Rock

Although some of their artists can be placed in the secular soft rock category, Aquarian Rock is known to bring inspiring messages about Aria and the New Age faith. The name derives from the faith (Aquarian) and rock elements (Rock) to where it forms a style that rivals all other rock-based genres -- including gospel's contemporary Christian. The main instrument in Aquarian Rock is the folk guitar. More Here


Neo-Classical

Neo-classical literally means "new classical" and derives its name from the classical elements contained. Whether electronic or with folk instruments, Neo-classical includes classic songs, classical pieces (in written form) and poems by various poets of old. Some neo-classical songs take a Celtic form, but Celtic music is of folk music, a mutually exclusive genre. More Here


New Age Dance

New Age Dance is simply dance music with a New Age flavor. Although they are of the New Age category, some New Age dance artists are categorized as dance/techno. The melodies in New Age dance invoke feelings of fantasy and stimulate the imagination. More Here


New Age World

New Age world is mainly New Age music with instruments and artists from around the globe. Latin, Caribbean, Asian and African are just a few of the many cultures that contribute to the New Age genre. Of course, this is done in a religiou or spiritual manner. More Here
