New Age Rules and Dress Code

Although the New Age does not have any definite rules, this guideline is to help those who choose to express their religion as New Age. Although not necessarily required, it would help if one would dress as such to express their faith. Asn I have seen many do so, I will reveal the rules and dress code of the New Age religion. If you have any doubts or questions, then scroll down to the bottom of the page where the questions are asked about each aspect.

But first, let's start with the dress code.

Mew Xacata Dress Code

(Note: If your -- or your child's -- school does not allow some of these things to be worn in school, then explain to the school board that "this is our religious appearel.")

To express their faith, all New Agers are to wear:

  • A corona, or finely thin cloth headband no more than 1/2 inch in thickness.1
  • Long hair or natural haircuts. Absoultely no buzz cuts, mohawks, "skinheads" or other extreme hairstyles.
  • The following jewelry is accepted:
    1. Necklaces with anhks, peace signs, medallions or other New Age designs.
    2. Simple gold, silver, platnum or cubic zircona rings with crystal designs.
    3. Long clip earrings. Loop earrings not accepted. Absolutely no pierced earrings and/or pierced ears.
    4. Bracelets made of semi-precious stones are to be worn on either wrist, but one is to be worn only. Hand-made bracelets are suggested. Handmade bracelets are suggested.
  • Extra large or large cotton (100%) shirts with solid colors. Acceptable colors are:
  • Only baggy cotton pants are allowed. Cotton sweatpants or athletic pants are accepted. No slacks or stretch denim!
  • Only sandals are allowed. If you protest the use of leather in sandals, then natural alternatives are accepted. No "beach type" sandals (with foam base and nylon straps). The wearing of socks in sandals are acceptable without excuse.

  • Rules of Conduct

(Note: This is not like the rules of conduct in most Christian religions. This is far different.)

One has to follow the Rules of Conduct with pride and dignity. Infracture of the rules will result in negative consequences in pertaintion to the New Age culture.

    1. One must treat Aria and Her children, good and evil, with justice, compassion and honor.
    2. One must treat Gaia, or "Mother Earth," with the honor and reverence one gives to Aria, for Gaia is Aria's creation. Environmental conservation is the ultimate manifestation of this rule.
    3. One must be wary of his/her intentions, as the Rule of Charisma states, "One receives what one attracts, and one attracts what one seeks." In other words, one's intentions could end up as one's consequence.
    4. One must treat the power of prayer with upmost respect, as prayer is a tool to speak with Aria, and Aria can heed to those who pray.
    5. One must dress as according to the Mew Xacata Dress Code, the dress code deemed for all New Agers, unless one desires to disguise oneself as a Maia (non-New Ager); there, this rule does not apply. Apparel should be simple yet eye-appealing.
    6. One must not give in to the temptation of Maiyea, as you may have done earlier. Maiyea desires all to follow her, and as a child of Aria, one must stay true to Aria.
    7. One must uphold the New Age as a true religion with a definite history, however the statements of the latter-day Arians. No matter what others say, hold you head up in pride and say, "I am New Age, and I am of Aria." Withstand all persecutions, but do justice at the same time.

    8. Questions about Rules and Dress Code

Why can't I just have naturally short hair if we have to wear long hair?

Short hair is not natural, but there is such a thing as a natural haircut. Just keep your hair a bit above the collar, but no extremely short haircuts. This rule is to keep us from being confused with the Hare Krishnas and other religious cults.

Why handmade bracelets? Can't I get them manufactured? And why only one? Can't I wear as many as I want?

Yes, but handmade bracelets are stronger and last longer. Bracelets from companies like No Boundaries do not have that "authenic feel," although that depends on the person. Handmade bracelets are made out of stronger yet more expensive materials. And for the number of bracelets? The New Age is not pop culture or a fashion trend, to where you can wear what you want and how much you want. This rule is for the sake of simplicity and identity.

Why can't I wear my ears pierced?

There is a belief that piercing one's ears would result in a theta point (minor chakra) being punctured and the head out of balance. But some Aquarians ignore this rule and go ahead with the piercer.

Why can't I wear slacks or denim?

There is nothing against slacks or denim, but slacks do not go well with a corona. Denim is prohibited unless the pants meet three requirements: (1)They are 100% cotton, (2)They are stone-washed and (3)the pair worn are baggy. If not one of these rules are obeyed, then forget about the denim. Denim shirts are encouraged.

Why solid-colored shirts? Can't a New Ager wear shirts with designs? And why large or extra large?

Solid color is for the sake of simplicity, for the New Age is a religion pertaining to spirituality, not materialism, for it is in the material do we get shirts that have "cool designs" or "pictures that are da bomb." As stated before, the New Age is not a fashion trend or pop culture. It is a religion that requires simplicity among its adherents while retaining its flexibility. And the "large or extra large" is really like this: wearing a size larger than you are.

      Why sandals

To help our feet breathe, for in the New Age we feel that sneakers and other shoes make our feet suffocate. And it is in our religion to adhere to Gaia's laws -- and one of them is to let our body breathe in her air.

If I don't want to wear all of what is described, how can I show my New Age identity?

The basics of New Age apparel are the corona, sandals and New Age jewelry. You don't have to wear anything else.
