Sabbian
What is Sabbian, anyway?
Is it a new rock group? A new business? Or is it a name of a new TV series?
No, my friend. It is a holidays set for New Agers. I, Mew Xacata, created Sabbian (and celebrated it) because (1)I wanted to create a holiday set for all New Agers, (2)it is a way to honor our New Age heritage and (3)it is a New Age equivilant to Mardi Gras, a Christian holiday.
Now what is Sabbian anyway, if it is a holiday? Sabbian is a 13-day observance in which we celebrate our heritage and honor the ancient Arian/New-Age deity, Aria, while "partying in Her name". Aria is thought to be derived from Celtic mythology and was used in Arian circles as a name for deity, a name they preferred instead of "God." Since the New Age is a true religion, it deserves a holiday of its own.
What are the thirteen days of Sabbian, and when does the holiday last? To answer the latter part, Sabbian lasts from December 22 to January 4, and to go with the former, the thriteen days represent the thirteen months of the New Age year. Just for fun, we can name the months with Sumeri words (with pronounciation).
Sonara is the period of fasting, the period of rest in which one surrenders to Aria by simply not using, eating or drinking what one craves. If you consistantly crave pizza, for example, Sabbian is when you would eat all the pizza you want and upon Sonara you are not to eat that stuff until Candlemas (February 2). Upon Candlemas, you can help yourself to a secular-looking pizza and then be healed, by theory.
Those who wish to celebrate Sabbian decide what these months mean for them, although some universality would help for these months. But overall, Sabbian is set as a New Age holiday so as for all Aquarians/New-Agers to have something to call their own. (And if you decide that you don't like the label "New Age," then you don't have to celebrate the holiday.)
May blessings be bestowed upon thee. Amen.
